Casa Luminaria finds its tranquil abode within the heart of La Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a sprawling volcanic crater ensconced by towering peaks. This picturesque house came into existence during the early 1900s, a heartfelt gift from our great grandfather to his beloved, our great grandmother. It was an enduring symbol of his love and devotion, a gesture that led to their union and has since remained an enduring labor of love.

The expansive grounds surrounding Casa Luminaria thrive as an avocado farm, annually exporting thousands of these delectable fruits to mainland Spain. Guests who venture to Casa Luminaria are warmly invited to immerse themselves in the verdant embrace of the farm, savoring the bounty of delicious fruits and vegetables cultivated on the property. Among the lush groves, a legacy of love and nurturing endures. Many of the guava, orange, mango, and other tropical fruit trees were first planted and tended to by our grandmother. This cherished tradition has persevered, carried forward by her granddaughter, who has expanded the orchards to include cherry, pear, and apple trees. Moreover, an extensive herb garden thrives, serving as a wellspring of botanical treasures used in apothecary, culinary endeavors, and various other applications.

Before donning its current name, Casa Luminaria and the expansive grounds it graces bore the moniker ‘Lomo de la Piedras’ among the locals—a name signifying the ‘Hill of Stones.’ This title arose from the exquisite stone walls that gracefully encircle each tier of the farm’s terrain. Crafted with meticulous care, every wall stands as a testament to the artistry of our great-grandfather’s hands, aided by the steadfast partnership of his trusty mule. These stone walls, remarkable for their intricate construction, maintain their integrity without the use of cement or adhesives. They bear silent witness to the passage of time, having weathered three volcanic eruptions and countless earthquakes over the span of a century. These trials that both the house and the farm have endured, attest to the exceptional craftsmanship woven into their very foundations.
